Making a Podcast is Hard…

April 15, 2010

No no, we’re not going anywhere. I just want to give everyone an update on the current state of affairs regarding the podcast.

Episode 3 is about 1/3 edited and Episode 4 is awaiting to be mixed down. You’re probably wondering what is taking so long and the honest answer is RL > Podcast.

Seeing that both of us are still in college, finals season is rolling around and both of us are stressed with work to attempt to finish up the semester.

The second issue is that our uncle (Myself and Esk are cousins) lost his battle with Leukemia (AML) over this past weekend due to complications post-transplant. It has been a very trying time for our families and obviously, this has taken precedence over any other commitment.

My semester is essentially over (Yay management degree) at the end of this week, which will give me a plethora of time to edit episodes. My current objective is to get 3 done and out to everyone next week and begin work on 4. Once both episodes have been released, 3.5 will be recorded and released. From this point, We can promise everyone that we will have timely releases from now on.

Also, my final project in my web design class is to take a website and transform it with the purposes to make it better. I’m going to kill two birds with one stone and do some work on the website. Expect some downtime for the website (www.voicesofvanadiel.com) in the near future. If you need to access our podcasts, they are available on Limit Break Radio’s website (www.limitbreakradio.com).

We apologize for the extended delay and are asking for just a little more of your patience as we get our affairs in order. We should have something for you relatively soon.

Thanks for being awesome.

The First Live Episode was A Resounding Success…Almost…

March 10, 2010

Well, the night came and went. Overall, it went swimmingly. The live stream was a great success and we are going to be using this format for the rest of our shows.

Only one problem: The machine that we were recording the episode on ran out of hard drive space near the end, so we lost roughly about 10-15 minutes (About halfway into Nimbus’s call.) This was an unforeseen issue and we apologize. We will post the audio from the stream for everyone to listen to after we get everything processed and apologies to Nimbus for loosing half of his call.

We would like to thank everyone that was there for the live stream. We topped out at about 27 people throughout the night and the interactivity from the audience was awesome. We hope to see more of you in the episodes to come! Thanks for your support!

Big Announcement: Voices of Vana’diel is going LIVE!

March 7, 2010

Back when Voices of Vana’diel was first conceptualized, it was always intended to be a live show. Technical limitations and random snafus really didn’t cooperate with us and we were forced to do everything prerecorded with a caller list.

With the great success of the Vana’fest 2010 live coverage on Limit Break Radio, we are going to utilize Ustream to take VoV to places it has never gone before! Our first live show will be the Voices of Vana’fest special episode which airs on Tuesday at 7:00PM EST. Callers that have signed up in the forums get priority but this will allow everyone to have a chance to call in to express their opinions.

Access the live stream here!

For those that can’t make it, don’t fret! We will be recording the show and putting a nice MP3 out just like we always do.

If you have any questions, please contact Xerumeru via Skype and I hope to see you all on Tuesday!

Regarding the Final Fantasy XIV Beta

March 6, 2010

Greetings Voices of Vana’diel,

As was announced at Vana’fest 2010, Beta invites for Final Fantasy XIV are beginning to be sent out. We encourage everyone that was invited to the beta to read the Beta Subscriber Agreement, which is publicly available, below.

Final Fantasy XIV Beta Tester Agreement

As a network show of Limit Break Radio, and their upstanding relationship with Square-Enix, we will abide with the agreement set forth. Therefore, on future Voices of Vana’diel episodes, there will be no Beta discussion of Final Fantasy XIV, nor is it to be discussed on the Limit Break Radio Forums in any way, shape or form. This includes, but not limited to, “I got in the beta” responses, discussion on your opinion of the beta or discussion of beta content in general.

We want to assist Square-Enix in assisting to creating this vast project and we can do it only with your help. We thank you for your understanding and continued support of Voices of Vana’diel and the Limit Break Radio Network.

Suprise Episode: Voices of Vana’fest! Recording Date Set!

March 1, 2010

If you were like me and Eskalia who stayed up all night to listen to the awsomeness of event, you probably have a lot to talk about. Could be concerns, Issues, or praise and excitement. Due to the epic-nature of the event, VoV is having a special episode dedicated to Vana’fest, your thoughts, your opinions, and general SE praising/bashing.

The recording date is currently set to Tuesday March 9th. That’s right, the FF13 release date. We’re that crazy. Recording will probably start in the early evening (6-7ish EST.) We’ll narrow that down a little once we get a actual time set.

This is purely a FFXI focused talk, leave FFXIV discussions at the door.

Sign up at the LBR forums with the general format and what you want to talk about. We’re expecting a myriad of callers this time around so talk time will more than likely limited based on the number of participants.

We have a facebook page now! Become a fan!

And of course we have the Twitter!

See you then!

Voices of Vana’diel – Episode 2 – Old Events: A Retrospective

February 22, 2010

Returning to you live from Serpentking Square, Episode 2 of Voices of Vana’diel is coming your way….. really late! While our news and what not is more than a little out of date, we still had a great time making the episode and some excellent conversations with out callers! TamTu joins us to talk about the events in FFXI that just didn’t make it and we take both returning and new callers. We declare our new lamer and gamer of the month and talk a bit about our other segments. We apologize for the lateness and assure you that episodes 2.5 and 3 are not far down the line. But for now: sit back, relax, and get ready for a heaping helping spoonful of awesome (yea, I said it); Episode 2 is here!

A special thanks for TamTu for the new logo!

Not Dead, Just Busy: Episode 4 Announced!

February 9, 2010

Hey everyone, Xerutaru here.

It’s been about a month since I last posted here. Just to let everyone know that we’re not dead. Myself and Esk have been very busy now that school just kicked in, making editing difficult for Episodes 2, 2.5 and the newly recorded Episode 3. Myslef and Esk have 2 and 2.5 and are editing as we speak. Ideally, we’ll have something new to show everyone when the week is over!

There is a new poll having to do with our next Episode: The Nerf/Buff Debate. The highlight of this argument is BLM vs. SCH, Round 2: The Reckoning (You’ll hear a small snippet that I guess is round 1 in Episode 2.) The sign ups for this episode will be announced later when we get the other 3 Episodes edited and out.

The delay also great due to the fact that we need a judge for the BLM vs. SCH debate. The requirements for this are:

Both BLM and SCH @75
Ideal but not required: Other meele jobs @75.

Interested? Send a PM to Xerumeru or Eskalia on the forums.

Stay tuned for Episode 2 coming soon!

Xerumeru

Ninja edit: Special awesome thanks to TamTu for giving us a new awesome logo for our site! It will be unveiled with Episode 2!
